What followed was an emotional descent into the deepest, most haunting corners of Pharloom, and a quest that redefined everything I thought I knew about this kingdom.

The Bell Eater and a Surprising Ally

My first step was to reach the nearest Bellway. The Grand Bellway in the Choral Chambers seemed the best choice, though I had to get there on foot since the Ventrica was blocked. When I tried to call my faithful Bell Beast, something monstrous rose instead—the Bell Eater. Its roar shook the chamber, and I knew I was in for a fight. I sat at the bench and dropped into the hole, blades ready.

The battle was fierce, but after chipping away enough health, the Bell Beast itself charged in and finished the creature off. A swarm of tiny Beastlings appeared, and suddenly I knew a new ability—the Beastling Call. With this song, I could summon those little creatures to whisk me back to any Bellway. It saved me countless times later on.

Into the Deep: The Diving Bell

Back in Bone Bottom, I dropped into Moss Grotto and spoke to the Snail Shamans. Their cryptic words tasked me with finding a way into the Abyss, and that meant locating the Diving Bell deep within the Deep Docks. With the Bellway, I traveled fast, then navigated past the Forge Daughter and Bellow to reach the bell itself. Bellow had to be convinced to move downward, but once he agreed, I used a Simple Key on a locked door and ventured into a secret, void-tainted section of the area.

Void-empowered enemies lurked everywhere. After unlocking a shortcut near the Forebrothers Signis & Gron boss fight, I faced that duo. The twin bosses plus their minions nearly broke me, but persistence paid off. Then came a vertical drop past massive slug enemies that spewed goo, and I had to bounce off ooze puddles with careful downward slashes.

At last I reached the Diving Bell, got the key from Bellow, and signaled my readiness. The bell plunged below the lava into darkness.

The Abyss and the Silk Soar

When the bell crashed, I was truly in the Abyss. The atmosphere was heavy, with void tendrils that could drain two masks of health in an instant. I crept left, dropped down, then went right, using downward slashes and my Clawline to navigate floating black orbs. After Hornet peered into the void below and Lace made a brief appearance, I found a Weaver door and played my Needolin to open it.

Inside the Weaver nest, I bound a statue and gained the Silk Soar ability—a game-changer that let me ascend through previously unreachable paths. I used it to escape the nest, then retraced my steps through the Abyss. The next segment tested every platforming skill I had: climbing upward while lava rose beneath me. One slip meant death. By the time I burst back into Deep Docks, my hands were shaking.

The Quest for the Old Hearts

The Snail Shamans next revealed that to repel the Void sweeping Pharloom, I needed to collect the Old Hearts of long-dead warriors. I learned the Elegy of the Deep on a special ability and set out. I started with the Heart of Might. Navigating from the Blasted Steps bellway into the Sands of Karak, I found a statue surrounded by crab soldiers and played the Elegy. The Heart of the Woods required a clever entrance: breaking a wall in the Grand Gate elevator shaft to access a secret upper area of Shellwood. After defeating the guardian Seth, I played the Elegy before a fountain to enter Nyleth's memory. The fight dropped me into a thorn-filled arena—true to Silksong’s punishing style. Nyleth fell, and I grabbed the Pollen Heart.

I also discovered a hidden zone: Lost Verdania. By using the Elegy with the Green Prince near Craw Lake, I entered an ancient mantis kingdom. Collecting glowing orbs restored memories until I unlocked the Clover Dancers boss. The reward was the Conjoined Heart, a substitute for any Old Heart.

The Red Memory and the Everbloom
