In the sprawling world of Hollow Knight: Silksong, Far Fields stands as a lush yet perilous region nestled atop a bed of molten lava. Reached fairly early after Deep Docks, this verdant area offers crucial upgrades and a memorable boss encounter. However, fully exploring its secrets demands specific skills—namely the Drifter's Cloak and Cling Grip. Without them, players may find themselves falling into fiery doom. As any seasoned knight knows, preparation is everything. This guide walks through reaching Far Fields, navigating the wind shaft, acquiring the Drifter's Cloak, and finally defeating the Fourth Chorus.

Reaching Far Fields

Far Fields lies just beyond Deep Docks. After clearing that area and defeating Lace, the path ahead is straightforward. Alternatively, travelers can use the Deep Docks Bellway station and proceed from there. A bench sits along the route, so resting beforehand is wise. The journey is a straight shot to the right—if the map from Shakra has been purchased, following it directly leads to Far Fields. Regardless of the chosen path, players will arrive at this lush green forest sitting atop a molten lava bed. It's a sight to behold, but don't get too distracted. The real challenge begins now.

Making Your Way to the Wind Shaft

Heading right, small creatures fly and run along the ground. Believe it or not, these critters are not aggressive and won't seek out a fight. They pose no threat—unless one needs silk, in which case they make easy targets. Further ahead, a series of platforms leads upward. With Cling Grip, players can pop into an alcove above and enter the top half of Far Fields. Without it, sticking to the right leads to a room with an ant swordsman. Dispatch him and continue right. The upper path holds two enemies, while the lower path relies on a jump. The top route is recommended for those with Cling Grip; otherwise, take the bottom. Either way, the wind shaft awaits—a vertical chamber that serves as the heart of Far Fields.

Path Option Requirement Enemies Recommendation
Upper Cling Grip Two foes Best for skilled climbers
Lower Basic jump One ant swordsman Safer for beginners

Acquiring the Drifter's Cloak

The most important item in Far Fields is the Drifter's Cloak. Obtaining it is fairly simple, though it involves a bit of legwork. Head to the location marked on the map, then keep right, crossing dangerous lava platforms. A figure hidden behind the lava becomes crucial—the Seamstress. After crossing to the far side, pop up from the cliffs and use platforms to reach the top. Enter and talk to the Seamstress to receive a quest that rewards the Drifter's Cloak. This cloak makes jumps easier and reaching a mask upgrade far more tolerable. 🧗

Before returning to the shaft, exit from where the Seamstress gave the cloak. Head right and ride the wind upward, avoiding spikes on the right. Take that gust up, then head left where floating rocks have wind gusts temporarily blocked by lava. Bust them open and continue riding each one up further left until finding a small alcove. Inside, an impassable series of red spikes blocks the way—travel underneath and bust open a wind path. Ride the wind over, then look at the ceiling where a lava chunk tantalizingly pokes out. Jump up, smash it, and get out of the way so it breaks open a hole. Inside is a mask shard. After that, the central shaft becomes much easier to explore.

The Warding Bell and Bellway Station

Return to the shaft and ride the wind all the way to the top. Look for a door on the right—this is a Bellway Station. Unlock it if rosaries are handy; it will save time later. Then return to the shaft and enter the room on the bottom left. Eliminate the enemy and look for a small gap. Jump up into it, then reach the top platform to find the Warding Bell. This handy item protects players while healing. Quite useful, to put it mildly. 🛡️

Defeating the Fourth Chorus

Once prepared, return to the area marked on the map and head to the middle platform. The boss fight against the Fourth Chorus begins. This fiery encounter is one of the most spectacular in the game so far—and one of the most fun. If players find themselves getting burned, a dedicated boss guide can help. But for those who persevere, the Fourth Chorus falls like any other foe. After victory, the trip through Far Fields is complete. 🔥

And with that, another corner of Silksong is conquered. But the journey is far from over…

Pro tip: Always carry a few rosaries for Bellway stations, and never underestimate the power of a well-timed Cling Grip.
